3 Days Samburu Budget Camping Safari

Samburu lies on Kenya's northern frontier some 350km from Nairobi. Is less crowded, probably due to the long distance travelled from Nairobi, but Depth of Africa Safaris Ltd believes that Samburu enjoys a wonderful natural serenity and with it’s many open savannahs, the abundant wildlife is easy to spot. Famous for Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the beisa oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special Five) plus hundreds of birds unique to its varying habitats.

Samburu is really a perfect African bush destination for those who don’t mind to travel a bit further to have a great piece of African nature all to yourself. Home to the Samburu people (a Maasai sub-tribe) and a beautiful area which conservationists George Adamson and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness made famous in the best selling book and award winning movie Born Free. The Samburu National Reserve is also the home of Kamunyak, a lioness famous for adopting oryx calves.

Itinerary for 3 days Samburu Safari:

Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu
Depart early from Nairobi after breakfast crossing the equator and arriving at campsite in time for lunch. Afternoon game drives. Dinner and overnight at campsite

Day 2: Samburu
Full day exploration of park sighting the Samburu Special Five and its wonderful birds. All meals at campsite. A swim possible at nearby lodge and ideal African sundowner in the pristine northern Kenya wilderness.

Day 3: Samburu-Nairobi
Early morning game drive, breakfast and eventual drive back to Nairobi. Tour ends
